First Mobile Dog Grooming Appointment: What to Expect
Trying a mobile groomer for the first time is easy, but it helps to know how it works before the van pulls up. Here is exactly what happens, from booking to the final bandana, and the few things you can do to make your dog's first visit smooth.
Step 1: Book your appointment
You can book online any time through our booking page, which shows live availability. You will choose:
The service (for example a Full Groom or Mini Groom)
Your dog's size
Any spa add-ons
A date and time that work for you
Prefer to talk to a person first? Call or text 855.25.GROOM, or use our contact form and we will get back to you within 24 hours. We recommend booking one to two weeks ahead, and earlier around the holidays.
Step 2: Tell us about your dog
The more we know, the better the visit. When you book, share:
Breed, age, and approximate weight
Any health concerns, medications, or sensitivities
Past grooming experiences, good or bad
Anything that makes your dog nervous: dryers, paws, ears, strangers
Tangles or mats you have noticed
The look you want, with photos if you have them
If your dog has a bite history or has needed a muzzle at the groomer before, please contact us before booking so we can plan the safest approach together.
Step 3: Before your appointment
Our FAQ keeps preparation simple:
Clear a parking spot near your home for the van.
Give your dog a potty break before we arrive.
Skip the bath. If your dog has tangles, bathing at home can tighten them.
Have your dog ready at the appointment time, and let us know about any gate codes or parking details.
A short walk beforehand can help an energetic dog settle.
When the van arrives
Our van arrives self-contained with fresh water, climate control, and professional-grade grooming equipment, so there is nothing for you to set up. We will say hello, meet your dog, and do a quick assessment of the coat, skin, and temperament. This is when we talk through the plan and confirm the final price, since pricing depends on your dog's size, coat, and condition.

During the groom
Your dog is the only dog in the van, from start to finish. There are no cages, crates, or waiting rooms. We work at your dog's pace and take breaks if they need them. For a first visit, the goal is a calm, positive experience as much as a perfect haircut. If something is too much for your dog that day, we will talk with you before continuing.
If we notice anything unusual on the skin, ears, or coat, we will let you know and suggest checking with your veterinarian. Groomers can spot changes, but we do not diagnose.
After the groom
We bring your dog back to your door looking and smelling great, finished with a light cologne spritz and a bandana or bow. We will share any notes on the coat and suggest a schedule for the next visit. Many clients book their next appointment on the spot to keep a regular rhythm.
Make the second visit even easier
Dogs learn that grooming is predictable when it happens on a regular schedule. A few minutes of handling practice at home, touching paws, ears, and the face with a treat, makes each visit easier. Our guide to how often to groom a doodle and our comparison of mini grooms and full grooms can help you plan the rhythm.
